Recently I have installed a new Kingston SSD Now V series into Samsung NC10, although it is not top to the range SSD, it still offers good performance for a Nettop and extra battery life for outdoor.
So I bought this having read the reviews. and yes some people had issues getting it to work with the NTLDR missing.
I also had that. tried XP and Vista. In the end I found this thread to be helpful: http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=41568&start=690 and specifically install XP until it fails. then: How to set up GRUB4DOS bootloader on Win XP system drive? What is GRUB4DOS? More info  http://grub4dos.sourceforge.net/wiki/index.php/Main_Page First of all, please download following files: MBR installer: grubinst_1.0.1_bin_win.zip GRUB4DOS files: grub4dos-0.4.4.zip This instruction shows one of the way to set up GRUB4DOS. There are other ways, but they are recommended for more advanced users. Step 1 (on another computer with properly installed Windows). Download and unpack “grubinst_1.0.1_bin_win.zip” into “grubinst” folder, and “grub4dos-0.4.4.zip” into “grub4dos” folder. Step 2 Connect system drive (in this case CF card from X40) with installed Windows XP (you may use USB card reader for CF) to computer described in Step 1. Step 3 Find connected disk number in “Disk Management” (you may start this tool .. full review

Ownership: 1 month to 1 year
Pros: Very cheap SLC, reliable so far and very straight forward installation, no surprises... small and light, just use velco to install, you could throw this thing against a cinderblock wall and it would still keep on tick'in Cons: I'm still perplexed as to why I bought this guy for $180 and the same performance SLC from GSkill and OZC are over $400? So you need a $15 adapter... big deal? 1.8' confounds everybody? I wish it were smaller... Other Thoughts: I guess I hit a window of opportunity. No longer in stock... bummer, I wanted to buy several more of these guys and try in RAID 0. This drive proved to me that SLC solid state drives are the future. great product Samsung.. I only wish you would slide a few more to NewEgg... they are the best in the business..
Ownership: 1 week to 1 month
Pros: I guess the title does say 'Retail' but it's not correct - this is an OEM drive as Samsung has not put their SSDs in the retail channel. If you look the information up on Samsung's web site they plainly state the product is only available to OEM manufacturers such as Dell, HP, etc. Cons: None Other Thoughts: I just thought I should clarify my previous review and what I said about Retail and OEM. Newegg really shouldn't be advertising this as a 'Retail' item. It should be noted as OEM. Samsung does intend to hit the retail market with the next editions of their SSDs such as the 256GB MLC MMDOE56G5MXP-0VB.
Ownership: 1 day to 1 week
Pros: Installed this drive into a new Sony Vaio TT190 and performance increased significantly over the included 120GB 5400RPM 1.8' HDD. Cons: Nothing I didn't expect but: Other Thoughts: The individuals who keep complaining that this hard drive doesn't come with mounting kits or power adapters seem to be looking more at the marketing part than the technical specs and intended application of this drive. The drive was made to replace/upgrade slower drives for UMPC's, small notebooks, and netbooks. The drive operates on a lower voltage than 2.5' drives and the mounting hardware is compression fit (no screws) in laptops which use it.
Ownership: less than 1 day
Pros: Great SSD for low price. Small and solid looking. Cons: 1. Isnt a standard SATA power connector. Other Thoughts: Umm. sell the parts.
Ownership: 1 day to 1 week
Pros: The drive is very fast and efficient, and runs cool, important in a netbook. I installed it in a Samsung NC10 Netbook and the boot time is about 35 seconds from pressing the On/Off button to being ready to run applications. Cons: Thanks to the other reviewers I ordered an adaptor and bracket (IBM FRU 42W8019 as noted by another reviewer [Thanks!])) to mount the 1.8' drive or else it will not work. You must have the adaptor to provide the correct voltage to the drive but you could get by without the bracket with some additional modifications. Other Thoughts: I also discovered that even with the adaptor, the drive was not recognized in two different desktop PCs. It might be this particular adaptor but it is worth nothing in case you have plans to use the drive in a desktop PC.

A-M-A-Z-I-N-G! Fast & snappy!3/27/2009 10:05:51 PM
Pros: MAJOR plus: This is an SLC-based SSD, meaning it will last a much longer time than the more common MLC-based ones. Cons: I wish I had gotten two.. I might order another and place them in a RAID 0 configuration! Other Thoughts: Make sure you get a MicroSATA adapter with the 3.3v feed. I found a very good seller on the 'Bay with one that works perfectly. You need this kind of adapter to use it in a desktop with normal SATA power/data cables.
Ownership: 1 day to 1 week
Pros: very fast and very solid Cons: requires a bit of homework in advance Other Thoughts: This is a 3.3V part in the 1.8' format. None of your existing sata power connectors will fit. The data connector is standard sata. The power connector is NOT. Make sure you have a real sata compliant power supply. you need a 3.3V bus or you are out of luck.
Ownership: less than 1 day
Pros: Extremely good price for an SLC SSD. Cons: Requires 3.3V that most SATA adapters/USB bridges lack. Other Thoughts: The reason for my post is that after countless time searching for the right adapter that would deliver the required 3.3v, I found a really nifty one that has a converter built into the device--a very elegant design. Google 'MicroSATA Adapter' and you should find it quickly. I wish I could insert an image here, but anyway, maybe this will save others some time as I had a lot of trouble finding it.....
